Meditation Art Prints: a little piece of zen

I’m thrilled to be able to offer my Meditation paintings as limited edition prints. The Meditation paintings arose after my artist residency in New Delhi in 2012 and subsequent visits to southern India to the sacred Shiva mountain in Arunachala in Tamil Nadu, where I delved into deeper layers of meditation in devotional prayer with Sri Ramana Marharshi at his ashram and mountain cave.

On returning to my studio in the UK, I found myself making these paintings in a very deliberate way, and one quite foreign to my typical style. My hand wanted only to work with an ordered and disciplined brushstroke, applying the paint horizontally rather than in the free and expressive brushstrokes of my usual style.

Each painting is made in a different colour palette, built up in layers and layers of pigment, adjusted and repainted until I was happy with the result.

Depicting pristine landscapes with clear depths and untouched by human contact, these quiet paintings in tranquil tones bring a sense of purity and peace. Gradations of tonal colour relate to layers of consciousness and the richness of palette evokes a pleasing harmony.
